KUALA LUMPUR: The Feature Film Loan Fund and Creative Content Fund are for all Malaysian films of any language.
National Film Development Corporation (Finas) director-general Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim disputed a recent statement by artiste Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, that he (Wee) had been told production grants from Finas were only for films that are 60% in the Malay language.
The RM200mil Creative Content Fund is handled by the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).
The RM50mil Feature Film Loan Fund is handled by Finas and SME Bank, and each approved film project gets a maximum RM1.5mil loan.
“The Feature Film Loan Fund and Creative Content Fund are open to any Malaysian film in any language,” Mahyidin stressed.
“If Wee wants to make a film, he has to first register his production company with Finas, with a minimum paid-up capital of RM50,000, to get a film production licence,” he said.
“Wee never came to see us. Finas is open to any filmmaker with a proposal. We are always willing to help in whatever way we can.
“If he wants to apply for the Creative Content Fund, he can go to any BSN branch and enquire there, or visit the bank’s website,” he added.

我知道 Namewee 是爱国的！只是爱的方式不同罢了！难道只有赞美吹捧才称得上是爱国？换个角度来看 Namewee 的作品，有些问题早已是问题，namewee 只是把问题勇敢反映出来！不然，大家都以为自己没问题，这样子又怎么能有所谓的改善和进步？也许有些人不够 open minded 才接受不了。。。
道歉，也许就是给他们的一个‘楼梯’。。。
